Geolocate in Sketchup for Schools

Geolocation all of a sudden has been working in Sketchup for Schools this year (starting August 2025). It previously had a terrible “map” that would download, but no 3d information. This was a wonderful surprise, because this feature was one of the coolest features we lost when we were forced to migrate from Sketchup Pro to Sketchup for Schools. Sadly, as of this morning (Nov 21, 2025). Neither I, nor my students, can access geolocation. Does anyone know how to remedy this?

Hi @cyhumbert, sorry that you are experiencing this.

We did do a release on Friday related to product access for Add Location related to trials, but I’ve checked with an SU Schools test account and access in general does appear to be working OK.

@CaseyG May be able to assist with this.

@cyhumbert Can you send us the screenshot of the issue?

Are you seeing a blank page when loading Add Location? Or are you seeing the permission error page?

Thanks

Matthew

Hi @cyhumbert and @matthew_rooney, thanks for the posts. I took a look on a test accoung for SketchUp for Schools and everything seems to be working. A screenshot would be extremely helpful and if you can manage to open the developer mode when you take the screenshot that would be helpful too as we may be able to gather some additional information from that.

Anyway, if you are still seeing the error, go ahead and share some screenshots and I can take a look.

This is the message my students and I get when we try to use GeoLocate:

Sorry for the slow replies.

That looks like a similar issue to Access Denied - Add Location - #10 by jmanaois

Could you confirm your the email domain for you and your students in private with @CaseyG. I think it’s likely a configuration issue.
