it seems that the fog options have changed recently - I used to use it to communicate depth when using parallel projections view. the fog would be like a wall of fog and I could use the sliders to alter the thickness of the fog and how far away the wall of fog was. it was a great tool to use for elevations where a wall jogged back etc.
But now the fog is acting like a vignette - so the fog moves in from the sides - this is an effect I can get using styles so I dont know why it’s now in the fog setting ?
Has anyone found a work around ?
I never noticed it before, but it seems the fog is a spherical surface centered at the camera when in perspective, which makes sense.
Depending on the size of the objects and the fog settings, you can notice the vignetting caused by the spherical nature of the fog.
When in orthogonal views the fog acts as a plane perpendicular to the camera.
On a side note, I wish the fog setting would allow a distance from camera value when in perspective rather than only %, as well as the ability to zoom in on the scroll bar like non-linear video editors do so you can fine tune the range more precisely.
I can’t seem to find the right settings that keep the front of my model sharp with an appropriate fade start point. Whenever I use it there is washing out at the front of the model. Perhaps as suggested it is the sensitivity of the controls and hard distance fade start point would be a better approach.
