Find Unused Components

Haha, as soon as I got back into my model I noticed a few more of those geometry copies. I was able to delete them.

I don’t have time to dig in real deep right now but here are a few things I see. I’m showing your model in the desktop version but the same issues would apply in the free web version.

I see that you have dimension display precision set rather coarse for that you are modeling. You also have Length Snapping enabled. This commonly results in errors.

Best practice would be to set Display Precision higher than what you’ll want to work with in the shop to help you identify potential errors. Also it is strongly advised to turn off Length Snapping so you aren’t fighting it when you are modeling.

Notice what has happened to some of the dimensions in your model when Display Precision is increased.

It may be that these small errors won’t hurt anything in practice but they might result in cumulative errors that are large enough to cause problems.

I also see that you have other components in which you’ve copied the geometry within instead of copying the component. The stiles and rails here are single components instead of several instances of the same component.

If you were ever to upgrade to desktop version so that you can use the additional capabilities including creating cutlists, you can see that these components don’t make sense. Each individual part should be a component in its own right.

Thanks so much @DaveR . I’ll get to work on these. The unexpected dimensions are eye-opening. I have not seen the Model Info window you showed me but I’ll look for it.

You’re welcome.

It looks different in the free web version but the dimension settings are there.
