My file is not opening and says it does not appear to be an skp model. I have tried importing the file, manually converting .skb to .skp but it fails to open it.
Would be grateful if it can be recovered as this is a bit urgent.
@DaveR @colin
Thankyou in advance!
The .skp file contains nothing but zeroes.
A large chunk of the end of the .skb is also nothing but zeroes. Neither file is recoverable.
What version of SketchUp are you actually using? SketchUp for Schools is a wb based version for school children. Are you actually using a cr acked version of SketchUp for desktop?
Where have you been saving the file while workiong on it? To a USB memory stick or a cloud location?
Did you experience a power failure while working on it?
I am using skp 2025.
It is being saved on desktop, but this has never happened before. it didn’t crash either, file was working fine, i reopened it and it shows this message.
So no chance of any recovery? i should probably get started on making it again.
Thankyou so much!
anything recoverable from the .skb maybe?
No chance of saving that file. Nothing from the .skb, either.
Make sure your computer isn’t actually saving the file to One Drive and leaving a link on the desktop.
Why aren’t you using SketchUp 2026?
Correct your forum profile with the right subscription type.
In addition to saving to your local computer you should also periodically save a backup to Trimble Connect.
Thank you
I’ll do that, this is the first time this happened and my folders aren’t backed up either, so i should get this updated
