I have this problem for the 3rd year now. Every time my SketchUp Studio license is renewed, my V-Ray license fail and need a very complicated frustrating attention. I tried SO many different things but ONE worked for me. It’s on that page: V-Ray Fails to Activate | SketchUp Help
Here’s a resume of the steps I did:
Open your Trimble Account Management Portal (if you need help getting there, use this link). If you have more than one account, choose the appropriate account and click Members.
Open the context menu () next to the user’s name and select Modify Product Access.
In the list of products, deselect SketchUp Studio. Click Save Product Access.
Wait around 5 minutes and select Modify Product Access again for that same user. Select SketchUp Studio and click Save Product Access.
Open your preferred web browser and navigate to http://localhost:30304 to open the Chaos License Server.
Click Online Licensing at the top of the page and click Sign Out.
Navigate to Chaos and click Continue with Trimble and sign in using your Trimble ID.
Return to SketchUp and sign out of your account.
Immediately sign back into SketchUp. Your V-Ray license is now activated in SketchUp Studio!
I also posted that method for myself, next year when I’m gonna try to remember what I did!
Goodluck guys!
Guys, I had the issue solved today thanks to Sketchup support :
1.Sign out of the Chaos license server at http://localhost:30304 (by clicking on “online licensing” at the top)
2. Sign into the Chaos Licensing Server at https://accounts.chaosgroup.com/trimble/login
3. Sign out of the SketchUp desktop application
4. Close SketchUp completely
5. Delete the SketchUp login_session.dat file to completely clear your login information:
@ On WIndows: In File Explorer, go to Windows (C:) > Users > your user name > AppData > Roaming > SketchUp [year] > SketchUp (note : Hidden files, you need to type then in the address bar)
@ On Mac: Go to your desktop, you should see “Finder” and “Go” in the top left menu bar. Click on “Go”, then hold the Option key and “Library” should appear in the list. Click “Library”. Navigate to Application Support > SketchUp [year]
6. Sign back in SketchUp
5 years in a row and probably the 20th times I face that problem. It drives me insaaaaaaaaaane!
This time, nothing works. And believe me, I tried EVERYTHING! I’m now waiting for the SketchUp support team to answer my support request. Wish me luck!
here’s the message I have today:
To use V-Ray you have to log into the Chaos License Server and make sure that there is an active V-Ray license associated with your account.
There are no V-Ray for SketchUp licenses associated with your account.
Would you like to be redirected to the Chaos License Server web interface?
I tried many times in the pass and they never answer me back. After reading your post, I decided to give it another go. Fill their support form with as much details as possible. They reply me almost instantly. Here’s their reply: Hello, You have run out of Chaos Cloud credits. To continue rendering with Chaos Cloud you can buy additional credit packages. If you ran out of credits while rendering, your active jobs, if any, are being paused and you can resume them once you add more credits to your account. [Buy more credits]
MASSIVE lost of time!
Nevertheless, I’m in a back n’ forth conversation with SketchUp support… to be continued…
I got it. Again, with the great help from SketchUp Support. Here’s the steps I did: Hopefuly, this can help someone else, or myself in 6 months!
Cheers everyone.
I open and signed out of SketchUp (24.5.594)
I uninstalled Vray app for SketchUp from the Extension Manager and close SU.
I uninstalled Vray for SU from Windows as well as Chaos License Server 6.2.1, Chaos Cloud Client, Chaos Cosmos Browser and Chaos Unified Login.
I deleted the ssl folder in AppData/Roaming/Chaos/VRLService
I also tried to delete the ssl folder in ProgramFile/Common Files/Chaos but it was empty.
I logged onto the new SketchUp Account Management Portal, unassigned the license to me, wait 5 mins and reassigned the license.
I installed the latest Vray 7.10.00 (run as admin) with the License Server 6.2.2
Open SketchUp, Sign in.
Open Vray… AND POUFF, It WORKS!!!
I’m relief. But still pissed as this troubleshoot toke me 2 hours that I didn’t have.
