Hello guys.
I need some help and suggestion regarding my model fail to upload and analyze by Sefaira.
Would anyone please let me know whether my modeling is too complex and need to make it more simpler with flatten plane and ignored the exising building form with in/out our emboss plane facade, pergola balcony? and I can’t found out building type for hospitality (hotel), do you suggest me to use retail to replace hotel type?
Hi Hepi-
without seeing a model I would say that you are right. The only reason why model’s do not get uploaded is because they are having a lot of unnecessary details. We recommend using a thin model approach where one polygon (face) represents a thick wall, window or roof. Yes, using a residential template would be a good approximation for a hotel.
Hi Bajic,
Thanks and appreciate your advice, is there any good reason to use residential to replace a hotel building type, i am using Sefaira simulation for my research study and my lecturer will probably ask me the reason why do I chose the residential type rather than others for my energy efficiency simulation purpose. For the pergola (L-shaped) as an envelope to the roof element, do you suggest I use a shading tag as a good choice, and should I just ignore the half-height basement underground level?
I have changed my model as seen in the attach picture, please have a look and advice further.
Hi Hepi-
when you choose a specific building template Sefaira prepopulates the values that we find to be typical for that type of building. However, you can always change those values if you think that you have more accurate information regarding your design. Residential building type very much resembles hotels in many ways especially when it comes to the occupancy schedule. High occupancy and use of plug loads and electric lights in the morning and evening and less during the day.
As for the “pergola”, you should tag it as shading.
Thanks
