Eyedropper unintentionally causing sketchup materials to change colour when being selected

I noticed this before but it doesn’t seem to happen all the time.

When I select a material with the eyedropper, sometimes it will change the colour of the material, sometime very subtle and sometimes more dramatic. Where I’m working on projects where the colours matter it can really through things off. I was wondering if anyone had encountered this or found a way to stop it from happening. Like I said it doesn’t happen all the time, but it would be easy to miss when it does. See screen recording here of an example with the two carpets, this is subtle but can cause a headache when they’re not the right colour. Will post another one as and when it happens.

I have the ensacpe materials editor open, but the change happens in Sketchup Materials, not in Enscape

Just adding to this again, showing how it’s happening with a bit of inconsistency, it changes is quite a lot on the first time, but then other ones are more subtle. Any ideas?

There are bugs in the way enscape deals with the eyedropper and has been for a number of versions - it may be related to that.

Hey adam!
Ah ok, so just having Enscape on the machine could be causing it, I haven’t got it running whilst doing this video.
thanks

Hi @DaveR I’m using the standard eyedropper, it’s not the one from the edit menu for screen pixel, would be causing myself all sorts of problems if that’s what I was doing! The one from the edit menu has a small square dropper, the standard has red circle

Hey Henry, didn’t spot the username.

Yeah, quite possibly. I know that I have lots of issues with it registering between sketchup and Enscape.
I have to click with the standard sketchup cursor in SketchUp before I use the eye dropper for enscape to even register it, so I would speculate what you are having is related.
It’s strange it is colorising it though

Hey!
Yer the whole enscape not registering is something I’ve learnt to live with, seems in latest release it’s not as bad, but this colorising thing is really not good, but wasn’t sure if it was an Enscape or Sketchup issue, hence why I dropped in here instead of Enscape forum as seems to be a Sketchup issue.
See if anyone has any bright ideas!

This happens to me every so often and i dont think its related to enscape (of which i did use to use). In my case it was always that the box was still being highlit and i didnt escape out of it - meaning it was still active to change. This happens to me sometimes when changing texture size as well in which i type a number and try to move to a different tool and the keyboard press - types into that field annoyingly.

Hi! Has this issue been fixed? I’ve been getting this bug as well and I don’t have Enscape. I do have Vray tho. It happens for both materials with and without texture images.

I can CTRL+Z to undo but I worry it happens and I don’t notice, especially for light colors.
