Extension Warehouse download attempt crashes SU

I am having basically the same issue except I do get an error message just before it shuts down.

BTW I use Microsoft Edge as my default Browser

What browser you have set up as a default doesn’t matter.
SketchUp will always use Internet Explorer for its coded dialogs/web-pages.
Although if you open most links or an html file via an extension, then that will use you default browser…

Overlaid on your EW dialog is a OneDrive dialog…
Why is that ??
Is is just a coincidence ?
Or are you trying to install the RBZ on a remote drive ?
Is SketchUp not on the default ‘C:’ drive ?

Can you download the RBZ from the browser web-page and then install that OK,
via the Preferences > Extensions > Install… button ?
I.E. is it just the installation internally within SketchUp itself that has these issues ?

Having the same issue. Will try and install 32 bit version, maybe it makes a difference.

Hello,
I have the same proble since a week. And no solution…

So everyone reporting this problem is using Win10?

when you click on some of the ‘Get this Extension’ buttons like the LightUp one…

SU attempts to open it in your ‘default’ browser, which may be blocking that action…

to test you can try opening ‘Window >> Ruby Console’ and copy>paste

UI.openURL('http://www.light-up.co.uk/ewarehouse')

does it work or give a different error message?

No error here. But if I go to Profile Builder 2 in the Extension Warehouse inside SU, my SU crashes too (without clicking on one of the buttons)… there’s definetely something wrong!

(Win 10-64, SU16-64 PRO).

This seems to be related…

Profile Builder doesn’t crash here, but…

Same problem here.
Sketchup crashes shortly after clicking on an extension to view it’s details. I have Sketchup Pro 2015 running on a Windows 10 64 bit machine.

For what it’s worth, I’ve been able to download and install two plugins from the Warehouse, “Eaxmple Ruby Scripts” and “Cut List” but “Profile Builder 2”
is still a no go.

Yeah, Im using Windows 10.

The suggestion to open in Ruby console just opens the link on my default browser, not on the Extensions browser inside SU.

that’s what clicking the link in in Extension Warehouse is trying to do as well…

the fact that SU Ruby Console can open it in your browser eliminates one potential issue…

did you check if javascript is enabled for IE?

maybe @Barry has some insight…

@Whaat, you may be interested in this Extension Warehouse problem and nudge the right people - trying to install a trial version of Profile Builder 2 crashes SU.

Hi @eselick and others suffering this issue.

I am experiencing the exact same issue as originally posted, but on a Mac (2015 Macbook Pro Retina). Has anyone made progress here?

Running Sketchup 2016 the Extension Warehouse basically just crashes and reloads to the home page each time I click the “Install” button for an extension (I’m trying to get Solid Inspector 2–but have tested with other extensions with same result).

3D Warehouse also works fine for me.

Seems this is a pretty major issue–I’d urge the Sketchup admin (@SketchUpTeam) to get involved in the conversation since some of these extensions are vital for us to perform our work!

@trizcs SU isn’t crashing. Rather you’re EW logon isn’t being authorized. See Extension Warehouse won't install, logs me out and returns to home page to keep updated on this new issue being reported by a few people.

I am having this same issue too - anybody have a workaround?

What happens if you open the webpage outside SketchUp and try to download the extension to your harddrive?

Hi everyone
I’m no longer having this problem. To the best of my knowledge it was a problem that the Extension Warehouse people fixed up. I was able to download and evaluate the trial version.
Elliot

This is Sketchup 2016 and I am trying to download a trial of “Profile Builder 2”. If I browse externally - I don’t see an option to download the extension locally.
