Half the time it exports only half the model. Need this fixed ASAP. I have lost a job due to this and it has been a problem for the last 2+ years. Need this fixed! The only work around is closing Sketchup and re-open.
Use Curic2Cad, makes life easy:
And be patient. Better DWG export is something that is always discussed for improvement.
Guess I will buy it…Seems crazy that one of the main reasons for the Pro version of Sketchup is and always was the importing/exporting of DWGs. It was working ok until 2 years ago when the graphics engine was changed.
Don’t buy it. Use the free demo for a week or two… then see what happens.

I mean if it’s a perpetual license for 30 bucks it would save me that in a week of lost time from having to re-export DWGS. I see you can export all scenes which seems interesting. I have slices thru my model for floor plans and sections and flat elevations as refs into ACAD. Someone told me about it before and I just never thought it would take 2+ years to fix…
It uses Sketchups native exporter…Not sure how that is going to help.
It works. Try it.
Yes but uses the native dwg exporter (which is the problem) to export the DWGs. I will still have the same issue where it fails to export the whole view.
I mean, it could. But by the time you and I go round and round on this you could download it and test it.
Also, the link to your website in your signature returns this:
I did download and install it and the first thing it says is that it uses the native DWG exporter.
Ahh removed website. Thanks for the heads up
Did you try and export a project?
I had ■■■■ luck with the native export and my detailer never liked my exports. That plugin was a game changer.
So did you try it yet?
Like I said the built in exporter is the problem and the extension uses it. So no I did not try it.
Why would you not give it a try. It takes a few minutes to download and install and then a couple of clicks to test…
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
you’ll never know until you try.
you’ll also never know until you try. maybe they fixed the thing that broke your export. but if you don’t try, you’ll never know.
What is it that is being left out? Are you using 2D or 3D export?
Post a model that displays this problem when exporting. That is the only way others can try troubleshooting.
80% of the model…Like 50% of the time. Same problem on Mac also. On Mac the drawings sometimes get corrupted too and I have to open each xrefed DWG and save them. Been happening for 2 years now….Seems to just start happening after I have exported several times. Then I need to close Sketchup and re-export….Really is horrible but I am working thru it hoping this will be fixed soon. Every single model does it. Simple, complex it does not matter.
What do you mean? SketchUp does not use or support XREFs. Are you using the DWGs you export from SketchUp as XREFs in some other application? Is the application open when you do your (updated?) exports from SketchUp? This might create a file permissions problem.
You surely are aware that 2D DWG export from SketchUp only exports what is visible on your screen so if you are zoomed in to a detail and export, the rest of the model is left out.
DWGs. I xref them in AutoCAD. Yes I have around 30 projects with around 15 DWGs exports from Sketchup into each. Floor plans, elevations, roof, sections….. I know what is suppose to do and it was fine until 2 years ago going on 3. If it was a permissions problem it would not allow me to open the files and save them. Autocad for PC does not allow images to be exported while they are loaded in the program. I unload them and then I can export images. Images do not have any issues. Only DWGs.
The 2018 exporter in 2026 Sketchup for Mac seems to be working good. Maybe/hopefully this has been fixed?
Still fails…..Around 60% exported. I guess I need to wait another year…The 2018 export version seems to not create corrupted DWGs at least
