Export white faces after material applied

On this page:

I see nice exports. I have a model made up of many different types of models and materials. I would like to ignore my materials and export as white surfaces, both with lines (above link" Good View Point") and without (above link “White-Sun”).

I’ve looked in my styles panel and haven’t seen it but i’m new to sketchup and could have missed it.

Also, any way to make nice shadows without using Vray?

Sounds like you missed the Hidden Line face style. With a white background you’ll have black edges and white faces.

What exactly do you mean by “nice shadows”?

Good Question. “By nice shadows” I mean any shadows at all. Trying to export a drawing that is full of crazy materials and patterns and achieve the nice look of this (without redoing every material on every surface): It’s All About Tricks… :: SketchUp 3D Rendering Tutorials by SketchUpArtists

but Sketchup never really creates shadows (like building shadows on the ground) sorry if this is a newb question

If you want just black edges and white faces/background, edit the style to use the Hidden Line face style, turn off sky and ground and set the background color to white. As for shadows, SketchUp will create them and cast them onto its ground plane or onto your modeled ground.

This is the model with the face style set to Shaded with Textures.

Thank you, is there a way to customize the direction of the shadows?

Is there a way to export from sketchup to create the look of Step 1 picture 1 and/or Step 1 picture 2?

The images you showed in your post are very nice but I’m interested in no lines at all, if thats possible.

Thanks

You can use the Solar North plugin from the Extension Warehouse to change the direction of north which will change the direction of shadows.

You can turn off edges in the Style so only shaded faces will be shown in the model. The images you refer to were done as no material renders in Vray. You can’t get that exact same look out of SketchUp directly. You might find that Ambient Occlusion gives acceptable results but you’ll need to update to SketchUp 2024.

Again, yes. It’s possible by editing the style.
