Still an issue 3 weeks later. Temporary solution is to go through every scene in sketchup and tick all the boxes for each scene in the model. Pain in the ■■■■ but its the only way to get it to display in layout/pdf properly.
The other thing that has now started to commonly occur in LayOut though is after saving a sketchup model then going to layout to update the reference, Layout just stops responding and will crash. This seems to be random so far, but generally it will crash once doing the update then wont crash again (unless another updated may cause it[varies])
Feeling your pain @Pjs , I am astounded this is still not fixed. This problem has existed since January!

I have the same problem. I have been using SU with Layout on and off for years (no issues previously) and then recently with 2024 version of SU this starts to happen whenever I pdf from Layout. Not only is the pdf not a WYSIWYG of the Layout file but certain section views then up corrupted in the Layout file itself. This is completely unacceptable… does anyone have a relaible workaround for this?

yeah, share a layout file.
The issue in this thread is from 2021. could your problem be related ? yeah sure. or it might be something else.
have you tried SU25 (or layout 25) to see if you have the same troubles ?
Thanks for the prompt reply. Yes I realised this was am old post but my problem seemed very similar. No I haven’t tried SU25 yet, however I followed some of the advice in the thread and it now seems to be working now. If it recurs again I’ll get back to you.
