I recently upgraded from Sketchup Pro 2018 to 2019. When I put the shadows on and take a 2D image export it comes out pixelated! When the shadows are off the output is fine. Any help please.
Thanks in advance.
Most likely the issue is your graphics adapter. Go to Preferences>OpenGL and turn off Use Fast Feedback. Does that help?
Please update your profile, too. It says you are using SketchUp 2017 Make. Is the graphics card listed in your profile still correct?
Use fast feedback is already checked.
Yes the graphics card is correct. I updated my profile too (thanks for the heads up)
Try turning OFF Fast Feedback.
Thanks for updating your profile. Didn’t you just upgrade to SU2019, though?
That worked. Thank you so much
Good. What that shows, though, is the graphics adapter and its drivers really aren’t adequately supporting OpenGL. You can try updating the drivers by going directly to the Intel site and downloading the most recent drivers they have for your GPU. That may help but Intel and other integrated graphics are known to be problematic and are not recommended. You might want to start saving your shekels for a new computer with a suitable graphics card.
Do you have any advice on what software requirements I should be looking for in a new computer? Thanks
It’s more hardware requirements. Based on history, Nvidia graphics cards seem to be the most robust as far as their support of OpenGL. Currently the cards to look for are GTX10xx or GTX20xx. You’ll want plenty of RAM and disk storage. I think a second drive is a good idea. Solid state drives (SSDs) are the way to go these days. High CPU core numbers are impressive and might be useful for rendering if you use a renderer that can utilize multiple cores but SketchUp will only use a single core so have 8 or 37 cores isn’t going to do anything for you.
Thanks for the advice. I’ll definately look into it.
