Export DWG -wireframe only?!

I’m a new sketchup user but this program is a joke
If i export an interior elevation to dwg, with my scene style set to hidden line, export the 2d dwg, it shows up as wireframe, with all edges beyond

This is NOT what I want. I want a clean exportable dwg file only of the VIEW i can see, not everything in the model

You have to go through Layout. Make the scenes in Layout and then export the Layout file to dwg. Also SketchUp is absolutely not like other cad programs, it takes some getting used to.

There are some extensions that do dwg export, maybe look at those. SketchUp is kind of a base platform and most people use extensions to add functionality and tailor the experience. A larger part of the user base is NOT in the design build industry. 5D+ is worth a look, and pretty reasonably priced at $60 flat. This thread is devoted to it. Or maybe Schema 2D Projection for $14.99 is what you want, looks like you could easily export the generated flat geometry to AutoCAD. I may actually check this one out. I also prefer to draw 2D in AutoCAD, although many here would suggest just using SketchUp and LayOut and abandoning the AutoCAD overlords completely.

EDIT: I installed Schema 2D Projection and the extension is broken. I did email the developer with the error messages, but for now no good.

Don’t double post.

I responded to your first thread.

this is a different question. It is about exporting dwgs

I don’t think it is. If you fix the model up as I described in the other thread you shouldn’t have this issue.

This is the .dwg file I exported from LayOut after fixing that viewport. I then inserted it into a new LayOut file.

What do you get when you open this in ACAD?
First Floor Layout.dwg (145.0 KB)

I export often, and I use this:

You might want to learn a bit before calling it a joke… as @DaveR and @rwamoore point out above there are ways to get what you want, but you need to learn how to get there.
