Export Components with name from IFC Type option

Hi,

I’m not sure if anyone has noticed, but when you export an IFC using the software’s built-in export option, the object keeps the name you set in the Component Options (see picture 1).

The issue is that when exporting with IFC Manager, the components don’t keep the same names. I need to use the plugin to include the custom property set (pset) during export.

Have anyone figured out a sulution for this?

Please Update your profile, there is no Free Plan for SketchUp Pro.

If your component has a name within the classification itself, SketchUp exports that name, otherwise it uses the instance name or definition name

If you want to export the Custom Property Set natively, the Pset should not start with Pset, since if it does not meet the standard it will not export it. If you put a different prefix it is exported perfectly.

If you also put it inside the PropertySet block then much better

Native export

Hi and thank you for the reply and heads up. Profile is now changed

The problem is that the plugin adds the “pset” first when i insert my custom pset. Anyways working around this?

The export with the IFC manager plugin gives me the best results as it removes the “SU_definitionSet” and “SU_instanceSet” but it takes the name of the component when exported. But when i export with the sketchup softwares builtin IFC export it uses the IFC types name but dosnt add the custom psets and it keeps the “SU_definitionSet” and “SU_instanceSet”.

Any way working around this?

i made a video for you to look at

What plugin are you using to create custom Pset?

This one:

I made that plugin. It’s better to use this one

It more advance and works with SketchUp 2025 Ofc improvements

Thank you and thank you for your plugins. Really a gamechanger and saves me a ■■■■ ton of time.

One question, does “pset” have to be included for the export to work?

No, The plugin itself makes the pset as SketchUp needs to be exported
