Is there a way to exchange a sketchup view/file within Layout to a different sketchuip view/ file which retains its view, scale and location. it would be great to be able to select an inserted sketchup model filename and change it to a different file which keeps it position in layout
Yes. Go to File>Document SetUp>References. Select the SKP file and choose Relink. Then select the new file.
In order for this to work properly the scene names need to be the same in each SKP file and your viewports must not be modified.
