I looked up this thread to find a solution but everything seems to be getting worse for me too. Here’s the model…
I have imported dwg, dxf and geo located it too. I have tried the fov trick the size of the model, the origin distance… none fixed it.
Can anyone help me get it back to behaving normally please?
Thanks in advance.
[Okay the only thing I didn’t try, which fixed it for me is I cut the model out (ctrl+x on PC), exited Sketchup without saving, opened up Sketchup once again > new file > paste. Fixed!]
@IanR, I’m not sure why your model is behaving as it does. Turning off shadows removes the clipping plane. I cleared the location and set it manually and the problem seems to have been fixed. check it to see if you see the same thing.
Sorry, bad joke, trying to point out that that once it’s uploaded it is already out there.
You’d be surprised at how fast files are downloaded.
But not to worry, I’ll only be selling it to those who can afford my prices.
Right, so it appears adding location data to the model messes with the near geometry clipping thing. Now I can’t get closer than about 50ft away from my model before it slips into the virtual void.
Not good really, as I now can’t geo locate it. I only want to geo locate models in order to get accurate shadows, which can be done manually using the north arrow on surveys, but sometimes this info isn’t included by the clients. In this case it was wrong on the plan.
And restarting Sketchup gave me an error on Thomthom’s Quad Face Tools.
It must be the sunny weather…
OR… as I have been suspecting for a while, that life (or is it just me?) is not IBM compatible anymore.
Yes Ian, you may have lost it altogether now… You are now talking to myself. You/I need some sun.
I have fixed your problem however, so when you return from your walk, try this:
Go get the location again, but this time, don’t ‘grab’ a small area of just the property you are working on. Instead, grab a large area, like 3-400 square metres. That worked for me.
I had the ‘everything in the foreground missing’ clipping problem…went to Camera > 2-Point Perspective, then panned around (which then turned it automatically into a perspective view) and that fixed it. Can now see everything.
