This is my first time to get this problem, so my laptop is suddenly shutting down when I still do my work on Sketchup and when I start it again, I cannot open the file. First the original file said “this does not appear to be a Sketchup Model” and second I saw a lot of people changing the .skb to .skp so I did that, but it appears with “failed to open document”.
Can someone help me what to do or recover my file? this is my file
I actually don’t really know, I just get this laptop from my family member who already has the app so i can already use it freely. But I think maybe its a cr acked version
In SketchUp go the license information in the Help menu. Show a screenshot of what you see there. This kind of information can be helpful in sorting out the problem.
I have the same issue but i am still using the trial version which ends in a couple of days before i subscribe. The file is not all zeroes but unable to open both skp and skb files
So not entirely zeros but nearly half zeros. If it was a viable SketchUp file it would have still been within one or two percent of the 43mb of the original file.
You can share the file so we can look at it but there’s little hope it is recoverable.
Where were you saving the file while working on it? Did the power get interrupted while you were working on it?
A SketchUp file is in fact a zip file in disguise so an intact file won’t compress. Your result indicates that the file is about half damaged and filled with empty space.
Laptop hung while I was working so I had to switch off the power button. When I switched on I was unable to open the file. The back up file didn’t work either. I am unable to upload the file here- it says too heavy. Is there a way I can share with you?
