Entering Dimensions of a square

I am using Chrome. Update confirmed to latest. When I select rectangle icon to create square, I am able to type in 1st dimension, for example 10 and when I try to enter comma it will not except this to be able to enter next dimension. So typically I can enter as ( 10,10) and it will give me a square 10 inches by 10 inches. It has not been working on any computer that I access for sketchup web and I have been looking for a work around. I have not run across any solution to the current issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated for this slows down the process of design using sketchup web. Thanks

What do you use for decimal separator? The dot or the comma?

What do you use for list separator? The comma or the semi-colon?

Depending on those choices, the input could be:

10,10 or 10;10

With decimals they could be:

12.345,12.345 or 12,345;12,345

Drag out the rectangle and look closely at the Measurements windo to see which separator is used between the dimensions. Use the same separator.

Also ensure you are not clicking in the Measurements window before typing the dimensions.

DaveR - I have been using sketchup almost since it was available as desktop software. I still use 2017 version without any hiccups. I do appreciate the insight offered but I do believe this is a glitch. What I am saying is on the web version, it will not accept entering a comma. That is not normal. I use the web version almost all the time now, on several different computers This issue has been over several months. To get around, I just use lines and the x,y,z axis to enter dimensions to build a rectangle.

I did just try again to see if magically it would start working. Not today. And it is a comma, when I drag out a rectangle. If by chance it is me, thus the reason for posting to see if others are having same issue.
On this computer, right now I am using Chrome build:
Version 133.0.6943.142 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Hmmm, I’m not having any difficulty using a comma as a separator on the web version.

It’s strange that no one else is reporting this. If it’s a glitch with the web version and it’s been going on for months, the forum ought to be choked with other threads from users reporting the same thing. It’s not.

I know, right. Just been living with it. I am using windows 11 on one computer, and windows 10 on two others. I haven’t tried any other browser yet. I did find this problem back many many moons ago when searching for fixes while using chrome. All threads are closed and don’t match my issue exactly. I think I know how to record the screen so I will try that next and post it to see if I am actually doing something wrong. Is there a setting that I have off? I didn’t know there were any settings for this other than how I want to work in measurements. I switch back and forth all the time between mm and ".

I watched your video several times. I see you typing 1010, 10 period 10, 10 semi-colon 10, and 10 colon 10 but never 10 comma 10. I also see you highlighting the text in the measurements window. Not sure if that’s just to make it more visibile in the video but in practice there’s never any reason to click into the Measurements window.

Have you tried typing 10,10

I was typing 10,10 and just kept getting 1010

Thus my issue. I never enter measurements in the " box". It was just for show. Do you have any solutions for my problem? Thanks

Try a different keyboard?
What happens if you use a different browser?
Is there a shortcut set for , ?

There’s clearly something wrong with your system if it won’t take a comma. Clearly you can type a comma in a post in the forum so it’s not the keyboard. SketchUp is accepting the comma for other users. Maybe try a different browser.

I wonder if @TedVitale_SU has any suggestions.

This morning I logged into sketchup using edge. Same issue.
, The keyboard works fine with commas when not entering a comma using sketchup. I have the same issue across three different computers, logged in using sketchup. And now I have tried edge also. It must be an issue with my account, if no one else is having the same issue. In the browser searching I can enter a comma. This is the only comma issue I am having across all three computers.

I didn’t see this reply till just now. That was it. I reset shortcuts and low and behold it is working again. Must of been set by accident. Wow, all this time and that was the issue. Working again like normal. Thanks to everyone for helping solve and work through this problem.

If anyone else ever has this problem, rest assured the solution is to reset shortcuts. I don’t use custom shortcuts so this was definitely by accident.

I’m just now seeing this, I’m glad you got it sorted!
