Elements that overlap

Creating a house and have several elements that overlap at times, or butt up agains another. I usually create them in a Group, occasionally an component. Often when they tough, they become a part of the other element and I can’t get them apart and almost impossible to fix it without erasing a good part of it. The will show up in the layer of the other element and will show up when I “hide” that layer.

This happens all the time and I can’t figure out a good solution. Ideas?

It sounds like you need to learn the basics of using SketchUp.

You need to make groups or components of each part that needs to be separate from its neighbors. You must be diligent about this.

Layers do not provide separation between entities. They only control visibility. Check out the help files and the basic videos from SketchUp.com.
