It is not these educational user’s fault that they choose “SketchUp for Schools” license in their profile.
They could be on either a “Higher Education” or “University Tiered” license, but these licenses are not listed in the license type picklist for the forum profile. So they instead pick what they think is the closest match.
Can’t speak for all of them, but in france, Architecture studies are made in a school of architecture. Picking SU for school is not just a close match, considering the choices, it’s a logical one for anyone needing a translation
I had no idea what K-12 was until a few years ago. it’s an US classification, not sure it would be that helpful for the rest of us. having a dedicated “su for high education” would make more of a difference I think.
edit : actually, I knew what K9 meant way before K12. so I assumed it was something police related too.
I am hoping that some of these changes will reduce “unnecessary noise” in the forums with posts that are “off-tangent of the thread subject” about the wrong license type or being cracked.
We can but hope, but as already mentioned people would tick Cracked if given the option. Nobody really wants to fill in the boxes, we want access without exposure.
The reality is nobody wanting an answer to their problem gives a ■■■■ about the profile questions. And rightly so. So the forum needs to think about how they can make that relevant and easily filled in. A filter in the original sign up, mac or win, etc a few filters and we stop guessing.
