You said it works when you created a model in another account. If it happens in all your models it’s probably something to do with your template, not your account!
Don’t leave us guessing here and share a model file (.skp) like I asked you..
If you don’t want to share the entire model for privacy reasons, give us a new basic model that replicates the behaviour. If it happens with every file draw a cube and add some ‘disappearing’ guides. It is VERY hard to help you without seeing a model file.
web based sketchup wether it is free or payed for does not let me send a .skp file only a link
but i bet when you open this on your program it is all fine and then you will tell me, there is no problem with this file…. and still the problem persists
i understand this seems to be a but frustrating to you … so please understand how frustrating this is for me!!!
i would gladly share my screen with anybody who wants to rummage around my settings…
Use the Download option from the top left menu to Download the file to your computer and drag it as a .skp into a reply here.
new kitchen.skp (5.6 MB)
Works for me. I am sure that doesn’t help. Maybe a rendering issue with your machine? Need someone with more knowledge than I, sorry I couldn’t help. @colin maybe you have an idea of how to help this poor soul?
Also interesting design, was a professional chef for 25 years. Where’s the server pick up? or is this a production kitchen, not public service?
Works for me: guides to input distances, staying visible and none disappeared.
Push/Pull same thing, performed to input distances.

Versie 142.0.7444.220 (Officiële build) (64-bits)
as i said before, it’s not the file it’s the program or program setting
kitchen is for ilvigno.com very limited space for service pick up
thanks for trying but am still “in the woods” on this one
even wrote to trimble support but crickets from them!
It must be something related to your machine, everyone else has no problems with it, sketchup settings aren’t complicated, I don’t know if you can choose on the web version the graphics engine, going back to the old graphics engine has worked for some people but most of the cases are because of old machines, you have a relatively new machine that supports the new engine.
Have you messed with the settings of your Mac?
i don’t know, i might have inadvertently… everything was working well on the same laptop in the beginning of the year and then suddenly the problem appeared…. i have no clue what kind of settings i could possibly have messed with … no one else seems to know either
There is only one setting in SketchUp for Web or SketchUp for Desktop that would make guides disappear. That’s the toggle for View Guides.
Your model opens with View Guides toggled on and there’s a guideline visible in the model space.
It might be that you’ve toggled the Tape Measure tool to not actually make guides. When you select the Tape Measure tool does it show the guideline and plus like this?

There is no possible way that you could have gotten a version of SketchUp that doesn’t include guidelines. That just doesn’t exist. It is possible that there’s been a change to the graphics drivers that affects how things are displayed.
Please put the correct and complete information in your forum profile.
I wonder, could the “view guides” tool have been set to a shortcut ? by accident indeed, but still ?
the same way some people will press K instead of L on accident, and end up with the hidden lines
well, you picked the worst time to have a problem, the week between xmas and new year. please have an issue whenever tech support is not having a food coma on a couch ![]()
Hmmm…not a known bug that I’m aware of. I agree that it seems like a preferences issue (for example, perhaps an unintended shortcut was assigned to View Guides).
If no obvious shortcut has been assigned to View Guides, then perhaps a preferences reset would do the trick:
- In Chrome open ⋮ > More Tools > Developer Tools
- You should see a “Console” with a little > symbol where you can type.
- Afterwards, type (or copy/paste) Debug.resetPreferences(); into that space and hit Enter/Return.
