Dimensions within component

I double-clicked a component until I got to its basic faces & edges, so that I could use the dimension tool by simply clicking on the edges (image 1). When I exited out of the component, the dimensions moved (image 2). What is happening here?

Is the component scaled? (Rightclick, check to see if ‘scale definition’ is optional)

In general, it’s not advised to include the dimensions inside the component itself.

Didn’t realize it would be necessary or helpful; I thought there would be a simple answer. The model is attached below.

It is if you right click on the drawer box component.

The dimensions don’t move for me when I add them to a copy of that instance of the component.

The dimensions do move if I add them in the instance that had been scaled, though.
