Datasmith extension not working with SKP 2024, TwinMotion 2025.1

I am trying to get my mac SKP 24 to connect to TwinMotion 2025.1 Preview through Datasmith Exporter for 2023.1 - 2025.1 Preview, and every time I click the Manage Connections button I get the following window pop up even though TwinMotion is open.

The logs from the Datasmith extension:

It doesn’t produce any actual logs when I click the button so can’t troubleshoot it from that.

I’ve already trying uninstalling, redownloading and reinstalling both programs, and uninstall and reintstalled the extension 5 times to no avail.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

I haven’t used the datasmith exporter for years with Twinmotion. It often got broken by new releases. Since 2023? Twinmotion can import .skp directly, just go to import in Twinmotion and navigate to your file. After any changes simply update the reference file from within Twinmotion.

Still doesn’t work with the latest update. Won’t even install. Comes up with dialog that says “The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.”

(It’s in my downloads folder.)

“Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package ‘UnrealDatasmithSketchUpExporter_5_5_3.msi’ in the box below.”

The file is called ‘UnrealDatasmithSketchUpExporter_5_5_4.msi’ not ‘…_5_5_3’ and still doesn’t work if I change the filename.

I guess this is what we get if we don’t pay for software and have zero customer service.
At this point, I’d prefer to pay and have these features work reliably.

It probably won’t work with sketchup 2018.

I understand the Datasmith extension is outdated and you don’t need it as Twinmotion can open SketchUp files directly.

I think they updated it last year for TWI 2024 and SU24
off course now it’s 2025 and I don’t expect it to work before autumn.

Thank you all for your replies. I have updated my profile to reflect the correct information of my system.

Epic just released a new update for the exporter at the end of March this year ‘25. Their installation tutorial video shows an extremely straightforward installation process with seamless integration. I suspect that it must be working correctly for people or others would be complaining.

Have any of you tried to use it with the live link?
