DATASMITH EXPORT UVs PROBLEM

Hi,
I have a problem after installing Sketchup 2025 with exporting files to datasmith. After importing to Unreal Engine, UVs data does not transfer and I cannot change the texture scale. Regardless of the texture scale in SU, it is the same in Unreal.

Here is view from sketchup and ureal engine. After assigning texture in UE to diffrent textures from sketchup the scale is the same. about 100 times smaller than it should be. It is probably a problem with UVs export to datasmith.

Before instaling sketchup 2025 it workd fine.

Please help.

hi,

So, the datasmith has always been peculiar, especially with materials.
are you running the latest version ? they released one on june 3rd.
if you are running the latest version, please make sure to report the bug to unreal. it’s not the first time it happens.

I stopped using the datasmith with twinmotion a couple of years ago, for the reasons you’re showing. The updates were slow to come, and it was constantly behind in term of compatibility. as a result, the materials would often import 100x to small.
Manual importation didn’t have the same issues.

SU2025 came with big material changes, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it broke something in the datasmith.
(especially if your datasmith is a bit older, it might not be optimised for SU25)

Hi, thank you. Yes I’m using SU 2025 last release. But I downloaded DataSmith latest releas as well. You might be wright about the changes in SU material tray. It seams that Datasmith doesn’t export UVs at all.

You better post this issue on the UnrealEngine forum. They are the creators of Datasmith and could resolve the issue if they were aware of it. Post it here Topics tagged unreal-engine

Edit: did you apply the materials on the groups OR on the faces itself? And does the material have a texture applied or is it just a color?
I do remember an issue very long ago where if you didn’t assign a texture, you would get very small uvs. Also applying the material on the faces itself should get the best results.
