I have been using sketch up pro for a few years now (just doing the basic floorpans & elevation line drawings, I’m not a pro) but have never worked out how to do dashed lines.
I have been drawing a line and then deleting middle sections to create a dashed line manually. I know there’s an easier and quicker way of doing this…So I have just looked on here and found how to do it with Tags etc…But when it’s zoomed out you can’t tell that it is a dashed line. Only when you zoom in.
Is there a way to see the dashed line (make the dashes bigger & wider apart?) after you have zoomed out?
I will upload a photo of what it looks like zoomed in vs zoomed out. Hope that all makes sense!
Since you have assigned them to a tag you’ll have better control over them in LayOut, especially if you want to add dimensions, etc. - there you can change line weight, dash style, dash frequency, etc.
Also remember it is importantly to keep all loose geometry on ‘Untagged’ and only tag groups and components.
This is where I dont take full advantage of sketch up! What is Layout? I saw this app come up on my laptop when I downloaded sketch up again. So there is 2 different apps is there?
Yes, SketchUp is for modeling (in 3D) and Layout is for creating output (like for instance construction documents) based on your SketchUp model. It is part of your SketchUp Pro installation…
