you don’t have to.
just turn it off whenever you need to change your toolbar. idk about you, but I change it maybe once or twice a year.

Even better! I did so, because PRO Support told me to do a clean install and then reinstall all extensions one by one until the malfunction appears. The way you did it is much simpler, of course. One could have identified the extensions which are causing trouble in ten minutes.
Tried it, works. But not immediately, only after restarting SU. THNX
I think there may be a small problem if your goal is to add Selection Toys tools to the toolbar.
I did tell Support about the work around two weeks ago. It may be that you were in contact with someone who hadn’t seen my report.
well obviously
but it comes with a toolbar of 8 tools, it’s easy to keep on screen somewhere
Hi Colin, right. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been advised to perform a clean install and follow subsequent steps to determine whether an extension was causing the issue, and if so, which one. I did that four or five times with no luck. It would have saved everyone a lot of time if I hadn’t thought that I was the only one having this problem.
Sorry for this late reply, imo Toolbar Editor is more simple and intuitive than LOTT, It can be a bit cumbersome when you drag the tool you want to the toolbar you´re creating but it´s nothing hard to understand how it works, and the main reason I prefer it is because the toolbars can be docked on windows just like any othe toolbar, LOTT lets you with floating toolbars, I dont know if something has changed since the last time I used it but it was impossible to dock toolbars made with Fredo´s extension.
Here´s the file Dan created and the steps to make Toolbar editor work on sketchup 2024 and 2025
Thanks for your reply, Francisco.
I’ll definitely check out Toolbar Editor, but I have to say LOTT has significantly improved my workflow since @DaveR recommended it. Now, I keep only the basic SketchUp icons visible, with the LOTT Vignette docked above and a permanent custom palette for my most-used Point Cloud and SketchUp View icons. I select other LOTT palettes as needed and use keyboard shortcuts - my mouse travel has dropped dramatically, making work so much faster and easier.
SketchUp & Layout are fantastic!
Thanks again
