Custom Toolbar in Layout 2026

Is it possible in Layout 2026 to have a custom toolbar. NOT a custom tray which is normally on the right hand side of the screen. I have got used to having my own tools in my own toolbox within my main screen for speed.

Tried many ways to add my own custom toolbox but to no avail.

Any suggestion welcome.

Did you try creating a custom toolbar in the same way you would do it in SketchUp?

Make a new toolbar.

Drag tools from native toolbars onto it. If you hold Ctrl while dragging them, you’ll copy the tools to the toolbar instead of removing them from the native toolbars.

BTW, please update your forum profile. It shows you’re still using SketchUp 2022.

Hey @DaveR can those custom tool bars be assigned to keyboard shortcuts to turn them on and off?

Just wanted to also mention that I have been playing around with a Stream Deck. They recently released a Virtual Deck setup. Any tool path can be assigned to a button and the virtual deck layouts can have minimum of 4 tools and up. The cool thing is that each virtual deck layout can be assigned a keyboard shortcut and then each can be setup to disappear when a virtual button is clicked. Tools are then only in sight when you need them.

I don’t believe so.

Just setting up LA2026. With regard to the toolbars and the way we used to customise them in 2024/2025, where are the Save, New, Presentation, Create PDF icons? Why is this function regressive? Also the dimensions icons used to be seperated so that the linear and angular were seperate. Not now. Why?
