The Commands tab is missing from the Toolbar>Customize window.
Don’t know if this is a bug or a planned reduction in functionality but it is very frustrating and wrecks my workflow. Back to 2025 I go.

Just took a look, your spot on. What I did find is that I can build a custom toolbar but only by stealing tools from the stock toolbars, SMH
Or, just as in SketchUp, you can copy the buttons from a stock toolbar and add them to your custome toolbar by holding Ctrl while you drag the buttons.

Thanks guys. That is good to know but I’m afraid it doesn’t solve my issue.
I like to have draw tools such as Lines, Arcs and Rectangles as individual buttons rather than having to navigate through the drop down buttons. This isn’t possible with 2026.
There are other commands such as Export that could be added as a custom toolbar button in 2025 but I can’t see it on any toolbars in 2026 (and in previous versions could be separated further, e.g. Export as PDF).
And in 2025 it was possible to have Text options such as Bold and Bigger set as buttons on a custom toolbar but I can’t see how to do that in 2026.
So it seems that some major functionality has been lost in 2026.
This was noted as an issue in another thread. I like you depend on this feature. The team is aware but did not comment if it is slated to be addressed. You do have most all commands available in the shortcuts so you can assign hot keys to your favorite commands. I also use a cheap tablet with software called matric to assign commands to icons for a condensed “Hot Key” tablet. I like it better than mousing all over the screen to find icons or use hot keys spread all over the keyboard.
Ahh, silly me… CTRL / COPY. I should know better
I still prefer the SU2025 version. Thanks Dave
Ah okay. I did search before posting but didn’t find a similar thread. Good to know the team is aware. Hopefully, it will be addressed quickly.
Nice bit of kit you have there, btw. Thanks for the tip. I might think about investing…
I also do this. And it is critical to my workflow. this is more critical than the line trimming tools in the update.
The keypad isnt much of an investment I paid $25 for the android tablet and I think Matric is free. My decks can be found in the matric library. Many use it for gaming, there are lots of decks free in the library. Its as simple as creating a button and assign the Hot key strokes to it. Browsing them will give you ideas for use. I would gladly share my decks. I have a SketchUp, Layout and Medeek Decks. The hardest part was stealing the Icons with the snipping tool!
you can also look at streamdeck. they have an app, a free version and a paid one, to do exactly that on a phone or tablet.
Yes its crazy you can make a interface for a TV remote or a studio sound board. Or a SketchUp Panel ![]()
Yes, I agree. There are also commands that are not in any of the predesigned toolbars. Please restore this 2025 method of customization. I hate it when you take away useful tools.
There are many commands such as File Open and File Save that are not in the standard toolbars. Using the Command tab is the only way to add these kind.
This image shows all the available toolbars and coupled with the Text Inspector we believe it provided most users with the tools they would need.
We had attempted to allow users to add all options that we have icons for but it looks like more folks rely on tools we do not have icons and would like a way to establish standalone instances of our tools.
We will be working to provide the missing tools moving forward and that will most likely look like creating icons for all available tools.
Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

This is what my standard toolbar looks like. I would at least like to able to put the save button on this toolbar.
Understand… yeah, that is not ideal - Sorry about that.
What are the chances that (with the end of life for the Cocoa environment approaching) … we can get these floating/icon/trays for the Mac version?
Thanks Trent. This is how my 2025 toolbar is set up, so I’d like to see all of these tools available as buttons, plus Export>PDF (which was a standalone button in, I think, 2024). Critically, I find the drop-down buttons, particularly for Drawing tools, are a time-waster.
“I experience the same thing; for several versions now, I have been customizing the icon bar with the commands I use most. But in version 2026, I am forced to enable full bars, and it is very annoying. Also, in the Spanish version, there is a translation error in the popup window that appears before closing a file without saving—it says NO AHORRAR (which literally means DO NOT SAVE MONEY, since in Spanish ‘ahorrar’ refers to saving money) instead of NO GUARDAR (DO NOT SAVE).”
Please do not double post, it causes confusion.
