Does the curser ever show inferences on the iPad version of the app? I also would prefer an arrow curser but all you have is a grey blob which is very imprecise. I have tried using a Magic Trackpad and a Magic Mouse and both look the same. When I first signed up to Sketchpad Go I chose finger input but then later wanted to try using mouse or trackpad because the level of control with finger was poor. I don’t have a pencil. Is there some settings somewhere I have to adjust to get the right curser control for a mouse or trackpad?
I am getting inferencing with all my input methods, including the Magic Trackpad and a cheap bluetooth mouse from Walmart…
As for the unassuming grey blob that apple has the audacity to call a “Cursor”, I completely agree with you. It’s bad. Unfortunately it’s an apple thing and there’s not really a way around it that I can tell. There are some things you can do in the Settings menu to change the way it looks which might be of interest to you depending on you usage.
Go to Settings >> Accessibility…. Then scroll down until you see “Pointer Control”
Once there you can change various things about the mouse-blob, including giving it a center dot, which might be helpful
I think I made mine too dark here with the contrast control, but you can still see the red center dot.
Long story short and a recommendation that you did not ask for… the pencil is my absolute favorite method of input for SketchUp for iPad… I especially recommend it if you’re not coming to the app from the desktop version and this is your first SketchUp.
As an enthusiastic trackball user on the desktop version and new to the ipad version, I also recomend the pencil. As they say when in Rome do as the Romans.
It’s a different tool and needs different skill sets.
