There are occasions when you might want to create a 2D representation of a 3D model. For example, if you are creating a 2D section for a traditional set of application drawings using Create Slice from Section, you might want to show an object within that to give it scale. If you had a section through a car garage, you might want an elevation of a car, front or side.
Of course, you can import a 3D model and then view it in flattened form. But it is a bit messy mixing 2D and 3D rmodels.
Is there a simple way of taking a “snapshot” of a top or side view of a 3D model for use in such cases?
I have tried using Flatten to Plane to do this. That does work but of course it flattens everything, whether it would be in view or not. So that is not quite what is wanted. What would be good would be to create a Camera View in parallel projection and then to Create View from that. But I don’t think that facility exists. Or does it??
