OK everyone - yes the design show must go on - so I have wiped and reinstalled a legacy OS on my older laptop with Ventura OS - pallet problem is gone. Unfortunately it is an intel laptop so Enscape for Mac won’t install on that machine, but I have it on my main MacBook (M1 Max with latest OS), so I can switch files between the two to get it all done. Pretty lame but - the design progress can not wait for any update.
WORKAROUND for NOW: IN my intel Mac with Ventura I will create a board with a grid of all the textures of the project, import this to the Mac that is crashing on pallet changes, and use the eye dropper to select any texture or material without using the color pallet. No more crashing, all project material selections are available without crashing, but it is limited to the selections I have put on the board grid. This will bypass the issue of Sketchup crashing on pallet switching. Again - costing me a bunch of time and effort - Please TRIMBLE have your engineers fix the issue it can’t be that hard to fix with your team and a little effort. Passing it to MAC OS is not helping any of us. Aloha and hope this helps!!
Also having the same issue, but for EVERY model I work with. Using Mac OS Sonoma 14.3.1 and running Sketchup Pro 23.1.341. As soon as I change color/material it crashes. Also, selecting a new tool from the toolbar does not display the tool icon (or the wrong one) and tools do not snap to points in the model. I have to guess where intersection points are and hope Im right, but often not. Sketchup also is not showing the axis guides when drawing lines or even the lines themselves. These issues make Sketchup completely unusable and very time consuming when drawing even simple models.
it has been for a couple of weeks now.
pull the trigger, it should be back to normal.
(and worst case, if it doesn’t fix the thing, well, it can be more broken can it? )
