Crash Using Subtract

Sketchup is crashing when I use the Subtract tool, or sometimes the next time I go to save after using the subtract tool. I have tried scaling up my components to ease the geometry, and I have SolidChecker installed which is telling me all the solids are OK. It’s happened 10+ times today. Has anyone had this before?

Can you share your .skp file so we can see exactly what you are working with?

Exterior door.skp (4.3 MB)

This is the file with the component that’s causing the problem scaled up, as I thought this would help. It didn’t.

What are you trying to subtract from what? There seems to be an awful lot of nesting.

I’m subtracting the cuboid to make a clean edge on the molding of the vertical edge.

Like this?
subt

I copied the groups out of the deep nesting.

Thanks, I went for rebuilding them but the nesting does seem to be the issue. Annoying that it makes the whole thing crash but worth keeping an eye on in future.

Best not to use all that nesting. It just makes your work all that much more difficult.

Interesting. If this is true, it’s definitely a fault in the software that should be fixed in an update.
