Corrupted SKP and SKB File

DGR Building 03.skb (14.3 MB)
DGR Building 03.skp (14.4 MB)
Hi Everyone,

I saved on an external hard drive (not best practice but had no issues prior to this) and had a copy on my desktop that also is corrupted. Any help is appreciated!

Looks pretty grim. There isn’t even a SketchUp header as there normally is.

Your forum profile says you are using SketchUp 2023 which implies you have a current subscription. Were you also saving to Trimble Connect?

The files are full of data but it might not even be SketchUp data as the customary header is missing. Are they a result from a file recovery application?

They aren’t no. I havent tried to recover them as of yet. The only thing I can think of that could be the reason is I was using D5 livesync for that particular iteration. Unsure on if that would have an effect?

I wasn’t unfortunately

Well, if these are the only two copies of the model file I think you’re sunk. Time to get started on rebuilding the model.

This time instead of working on the file saved to an external drive, save it on an internal drive. Make sure that saving it on the desktop isn’t really saving it to One Drive. If you need it on the external drive copy the .skp and .skb files to the external drive. Also save a backup to your Trimble Connect storage. Doing that might obviate the need to put it on the external drive anyway.
