Conical mesh, how?

Hi all,

I’m trying to make a conical mesh from cylindrical mesh but with no luck.
So, how can I do it? tubemesh.skp (13,9 Mt)

You might try Box Tapering in FredoScale.Be patient. There’s a ton of geometry to process.

The downside of scaling the mesh you have is that the width and thickness of the mesh members will also scale. It would probably make more sense to scale the helix you used to create the mesh before it is so complex.

Thanks DaveR, yes it took several hours before I got it right.

I’m curious what end result you are after?
I had a quick doodle and made a few variations.

Hi Box,

this is a project by my wife and her friends that needs a cone-shaped mesh for vines. And visually must be the right kind of drawing or I’m in trouble.
DaveR recommended FredoScale Box Tapering and I managed to get a cone shape, but it took a loooong time to produce.

I made that one using Truebend, I just made a grid, set it at an angle and bent it.
But it does change the shape of the mesh, so if that isn’t what you want I’ll not bother making a gif for it.

A mesh like that in real life would be rolled from a circle with a wedge removed, I’ll have to think about that one for a bit, too busy just now.

Thanks Box,

and thanks for your effort.
