i made this model flat on autocad, and then imported it into sketchup, gave it some width and then used the true bend plug in to bend it into a cylinder shape.
however i now need it to not be a perfectly straight cylinder, and for the top to be wider than the bottom but can’t figure out how to do this.
i also eventually need to give it some ‘texture’ so that its not a smooth surface and if you look at it in plan view the circle will be a wavy circle if you know what i mean, any tips how to do this aswell would be appriciated.
Tilt it before you bend it.
oh haha idk why that didnt cross my mind - thank you so much. do you have any ideas how i could make it not such a smooth surface too?
Again, modify the flat shape however you want and then bend it.
thank you
by doing this the bottom of the holes isn’t flat anymore as i need them to be flat because theyre seats.
I really can’t find the energy just now to explain this any more than I already have. If the shape of a plane shape bends in a certain way and the same shape tilted bends in a different but predictable way, would not the areas you want to be flat need to be aligned to the red axis before you bend it. Just a guess.
or you could make a hollow cone, and make volumes out of the shapes you need to remove, and use the solid tools. that way you can make your seats how you want
