Conflict with Windows

Having some issues, don’t know if it’s Sketchup or Windows, this is my Windows folder:

and this is my Sketchup Components list:

All but 1 of the 1/4-20 x 1 1/4" … are various diameter and length rods textured to look like screw threads. I’ve included one of the rods, they are all scaled up from inches to meters (M).

#6 x 2 threaded rod (M).skp (60.6 KB)

Could you explain a b it more about the problem that we should see in your screenshots?
The only thing I see is that Windows alphabetizes your component list slightly differently from SketchUp and that both agree that a space lists first, before any number, and that Windows has some number recognition (#10 is placed after #6) while SketchUp sorts one character at a time.

I always thought the component list was the actual title of the file where the component resides. 1/4 is an illegal fine name and it seems none of the threaded rods are in the SU components list. The components list is named BOLTS _NUTS, ETC, the folder name is BOLTS & NUTS, ETC

You seem to have a lot of file names with characters that generally should be avoided. Not all of these are strictly forbidden so I don’t know if they are the problem but…

Since my system is Windows 10, I know all the illegal/forbidden characters for my system - if Sketchup has a list of characters that are forbidden I would certainly like to see it.

And yet you are using the ampersand…

SketchUp has not published a list of its own, but I would guess that as it is dual platform, both Windows and Mac lists apply.

The ampersand is not an illegal character in Windows.

An & is best avoided in certain contexts on Windows.
some spaces <>*/:&(){}^=;!'+,`"%~@
etc are best avoided…
They will work within SketchUp, and when exporting files etc some might work in file names, but in the file ‘processing’ done in complex apps they might cause an issue down the line, so they get swapped out as _
They can be ‘escaped’ but it’s PITA.
On a MAC the list is similar but not exact…
