I have a component assigned to a tag that when I turn it off, only part of the component turns off and the rest of it remains visible. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason for which parts stay visible and which ones turn on and off. How do I correct this?
Sounds like incorrect tag usage. Share the .skp file so we can see what you’ve got set up and help you fix it.

The problem component is the truss over the guestroom wing - thanks
It is incorrect tag usage. You have given different tags to the various edges and faces within the component. ALL edges and faces should be created and remain untagged. Only the groups and components in the model should get tags.
Note how the Tag field in Entity Info is blank when the geometry of the truss is selected.
After correcting the incorrect tag usage in the model …
… turning off the tag for the truss components yields the expected results.
