Click and release

I have been using sketch up for a while, and one command still can’t know how. So I have a model need to make changes lets say the pillow when I click and change color etc, want to go back and hit the key ESC but I nothing happens.
Thanks

Can you explain more clearly what it is you are trying to do. What you’ve written doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Sharing the SKP file might make it easier to understand what it is you are trying to do.

Pressing ESC just ‘escapes’ from what you are currently doing.
To UNDO what you just did use CTRL+Z.

So in your example ESC just exits the Material Paint-bucket tool - leaving the painted entities as you have painted them.
To UNDO what you have just painted use CTRL+Z - which undoes the last tool’s operation…

Try it and report back…

I feel embarrassed simple command I didn’t know.
Thanks

For some reason it seems it’s not very well known but it’s useful.

Some tools will automatically deselect groups and components when you activate them, offset and pushpull for example, other tools like select, move, rotate will deselect if you right click in open space.

I’ve been using SketchUp for 4 years now and I didn’t know that. I’ve been zooming out to click on void to deselect things.

It actually on the edit menu, complete with the shortcut keys.

I guess I should read through the menus a little closer, eh? :joy:

Like chicken soup, it couldn’t hurt.

FWIW, a couple of the shortcuts shown in my screen grab are customized ones.
