There’s a very useful extension called “FlatText”, which lets you create flat AutoCAD-style text that’s editable after creation (unlike Sketchup’s text).
There’s a very useful extension called “Cleanup^3”, that deletes a lot of stray geometry, duplicate faces, broken edges, etc.
The problem is, Cleanup^3 also cheerfully nukes every FlatText entry…
Any advice on how to (permanently) prevent it from doing that?
I’ll try to keep that in mind. But I was wondering if there was a way to “reinforce” or somehow “normalize” the FlatText geometry to protect it from Cleanup3, because what happens is, it deletes notes / comments and I don’t realize it, and then discover that the text is missing much later, by which time it’s too late to undo…
unfortunately, from what I see (I don’t have it installed) the flat text extension converts your autocad text into editable edges, that are seen as stray edges by cleanup 3.
if you unchecked erase stray edges, it shouldn’t disappear anymore, next time you use cleanup3 it will remember your settings and you can even pick the option “clean with last settings” to skip the settings dialog.
Should you need the erase stray edges function for a particular part of your model, just reactivate it and only select this part of your model and clean with the proper scope selected
