Chrome ignoring CookiesAllowedForURLs when Sketchup addedd

We can’t login to Sketchup for schools via Chrome web browser, as third party cookies are blocked by default in all Chrome installs.

I’ve tried adding the sketchup domain to the Chrome Settings policy CookiesAllowedForUrls According to Chrome’s own documentation on this policy setting, any domains entered here will be allowed to use 3rd party cookies, even if third party cookies is disabled in Chrome settings.

When I go to the Sketchup for Schools log in screen edu.sketchup/com which again, according to Chrome documentation for the policy, should be covered by the entry I’ve entered above - Chrome still displays the “3rd Party Cookies are blocked”, and the sign in process fails.

It seems the policy value is being completely ignored by the browser!?

I’ve even tried adding “edu.sketchup.com” to the same policy, and even this same url with /app on the end, which is the exact URL for the log-in screen - none of these work.

The only way I can get it to work is manually clicking on the browser toolbar icon for blocked cookies, and changing the slider setting to “Allow”. I can then log in as expected.

What policy setting is being changed in Chrome to make it work when I manually allow 3rd party cookies, if “CookiesAllowedforUrls” isn’t where I should be “whitelisting” Sketchup.

I’ve read Chrome’s documentation on settings ovar and over again, there simply isn’t any other policy responsible for allowing or blocking 3rd party cookies!?

That is a new question for me @jevansMC and I can’t say that I am familiar with the process you are describing so I’ll go ahead and see what I can find for you on our end and will ping @Tori_SU too to see if she has any insight but it might be a good idea to start a thread on a more Chrome focused forum too as this may be a chrome issue as opposed to a SketchUp for Schools issue if you have not already done so,

Regardless, I’ll see what I can turn up and let you know what I find as soon as I have anything to share.

Hi @jevansMC, looking at Chrome Enterprise Policy List & Management | Documentation you’ll want to use the format *,[*.]sketchup.com. Adding just [*.]sketchup.com doesn’t work, but the *, in front of it adds it to the allow third party cookies list.

Thanks for the post ElectricEchidna. I appreciate your help on this as I was still trying to figure this one out and had not had a chance to speak with Tori_SU just yet.

@jevansMC, please let me know if the potential solution worked for you and if so please feel free to mark it as such so future users can easily locate what worked for you. If it does not work let me know and I’ll keep reading the documentation to see if I can find an answer for you.
