Can't seem to make intersect with model work

Hi

I know I have asked before but after a long while not having an issue do I dare ask again

I have this look out platform that is supposed to have a sunken mall space one tall floor

under the grass level.

The last question I uploaded got either lost in translations or I overstayed my welcome of questions

not one person said one word about it to my big surprise

Ok I am 55++ so I am getting a little slow at moments especially coming back from 3 years in SU> Twinmotion and UE

The top part isn’t horizontal and there are many push and pull areas that come down

so that space is actually only usable on one side of the circle only

By trying do intersect the from the horizontal grass (a group)

or the building nothing works.

Got so involved within, that I actually deleted and lost all the grass

and had to re import it from previous save

it is 10mm thick not just one layer.

I can’t upload the file as it’s much too big.

I know from my game project that I had to stop for while as my 12GB video card

isn’t enough again for render in UE so I came back to this model I stopped in 2022

Then I was told there can’t be a speck or a line within the area one wants to intersect to cut out

but I can’t delete parts of my building

I have tried to trace a line all around but still can’t delete.

I made like a round deep circular pot around it hoping it will be easier to cut the grass out but

still not ( I made the bottom invisible in this screen shot) to show all the foundations going down

What ever I do SU still closes it up in a zap.

I am still baffled with this I am in the old SU 19 and can’t upgrade!

Thank for any advise and my apologies if I ask again something along similar previous questions

A quick search in the Sketchup YouTube site brings up several videos on the topic.

Hello Yes thank you.

Been there done that. Still am flabbergasted about the matter.

But thanks

Hi this issue kept me up half the night

Somehow after x trying I found out if I start a circle at grass level OUTSIDE of the building with

a displaced center (compared to the building)

I was able to cut out the grass inside the building and the fill in slowly the outer open area

along the edge of the sidewalks

I am sure it’s not the easiest way or most logic but if resolves my current issue and now

I can finish the inner surrounding walls

I don’t have to design the entire interior

It stops by the big staircase coming down from the ground floor.

OK just wanted to show that I am not just sit back and wait for the solution

Thanks for your reply.

When I run into weirdness with Intersect, I go to solid tools. This creates it’s own problems, but often I can get some of the intersecting objects to be solids (using the Solid Inspector extension). I then create a solid the same shape as the geometry I am trying to intersect and use solid tools>trim or >subtract.

Maybe this is helpful.

Also make sure you are intersecting faces in the right context..
