Can't pull dimension from drawing

I am trying to pull dimensions to make shop drawings for a cabinet carcass. Most everything is straight forward but I am having a problem where a dado intersects a rabbet in the top panel. The dimension tool will not latch to the edge of the the dado.

I am pretty new to Sketchup so I don’t know if this is as expected or perhaps a bug.

I have attached a screen shot to show how I can start the dimension from end corner of the dado across to the opposite edge. It shows the correct distance but I cannot get it to attach to the edge.

I am using Sketchup Make 16.1.1451

Connect the two endpoints, even though they are at an angle to each other, then slide the dimension to where you want it and it will work.
You need to attach to endpoints not the middle of an edge.

Sure… @box is faster… but I got moving pictures!

Ok I see how it works. Thanks for the example because I don’t think I would have figured it out otherwise.
