I recently screwed up the 5th and final version of a model and went to Tremble Connect to retrieve last clean version. Although I found the 1st version of the model from several weeks ago, no other history were listed. I also visited my computer storage files for backups but could not find anything within the past several days. I did find the correct associated layout file which fortunately had not be updated to the screwed up version. Help please!
When is the last time you saved the file to Trimble (not Tremble) Connect? SketchUp doesn’t save to both the local drive and Trimble Connect at the same time.
So you were able to extract a usable copy?
I’ve never saved any files directly to Trimble Connect (yet many files were listed).
The file I referenced was a Layout file that had not been synced to it’s updated parent.
Were you using SketchUp for web at some point? Desktop versions of SketchUp won’t save to Trimble Connect unless you do it.

No, I did not use the web version.
So if you have files saved in your Trimble Connect storage you had to have saved them there. Only the web-based versions automatically save to Trimble Connect.
Okay. Didn’t know that but still can figure out how my first version of this model exist in TC??? I’ve never used this feature before.
I can’t answer that since it doesn’t happen automatically.
Not really. The layout file was was not updated to the latest version of the parent file. It as the correct info I want but the source file no longer exist.
Is there a way to create a sketchup file from a layout file???
So right click on a viewport in LayOut and choose Open with SketchUp. Once you have the file open in SketchUp use File>Save as to save it to where your SketchUp project is saved. A copy of the SketchUp file is included in the LayOut file.
And start using Trimble Connect intentionally to save backups so you have a history to fall back on if needed.
