I reluctantly updated to 2021, but now I can’t edit my toolbar how I like it. I clicked “view” > “Toolbar”. No dialogue box pops up, it lets me move around the existing icons but there’s no way to add anything or no way to close out of that option without just exiting the program. This is really frustrating. I’ve alt-tabbed around to see if there’s a hidden dialogue box or anything but can’t find it.
Did you install SketchUp correctly? That is, did you right click on the downloaded installer and choose run as administrator? If not, you should do that and if prompted, choose Repair.
Very likely the Toolbars panel is opening off screen. You can try resetting the workspace by going to Window>Preferences>Workspace and clicking on the rest button.
Do those sort it out?
Another thing you can try goes as follows.
Step 1 : press ALT+SPACEBAR
Step 2 : Now press M , which will basically choose the Move option
Step 3 : Now use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move the window to the new position that you desire.
@Dave it wasn’t any of those, unfortunately. I did find the solution though, I just unplugged my external monitor before clicking “view>toolbars” so my computer had no extra space to hide the dialogue box, and there it was. Hopefully this will save someone else a hassle later down the line. Thanks for your time!
It may be unrelated but I have encountered a not dissimilar problem since installing 2021.
Usually, you just right click on the toolbar and that opens the editing panel. But as often as not, right clicking has no effect. It tends to need several attempts in different parts of the toolbar but eventually responds. It’s as if it has turned into a surly teenager that eventually rouses himself to action.
