Can't access all my fonts

,

I am working on a job that requires dimensional letters–lots of them. The graphic designer wants to use the font Neue Plak Black Compressed for most of the lettering. I have Neue Plak as a family of .otf fonts that comes in 48 varieties, from ultralight to ultrablack and compressed to wide. When using the dimensional letter tool in SketchUp the type looks correct in the dialog box. But when I click “place,” the type face comes in to the model as Neue Plak Regular. This is true for all varieties of this typeface. Is there a fix for this? Using SU 25.0.659 on a Mac studio.

Do you mean 3D Text?

This is what I see with SketchUp 2025 on windows. Perhaps it’s a Mac thing? Do you see the same thing with SketchUp 2024?

Please update your forum profile.

It must be a Mac thing. Same happened with 2024.

Can you check some other font family to test if the glitch is font-specific?

I have the same problem with Futura: Condensed Extra Bold comdes into the model as just bold. The Futura I have is a True Type font (.ttf), and Neue Plak is an open type font. (.otf).

How tall are you making the text? I wonder if that could have any impact.

I do suspect it’s a Mac thing but maybe it’s just a size thing.

Hi, Dave:

Size doesn’t seem to matter.

amerriell Just wondering if you had any resolution to the 3d text font changing when placed in the model ? I have the same issue, when i place any font as a ‘light or ultra light’ style into the model it reverts to ‘regular’ style. Bold and italic styles work fine - must be something about ‘light’ styles.

Sorry, so far nobody has come up with a fix to this problem that I know about. I have had this issue for years. It may be a mac-only thing, which may be why SketchUp hasn’t bothered to do anything about it.
