Cannot recover file nore its backup with Sketchup Studio Windows 11

Dear all,
I cannot open my file further to a fail save. I’m using Sketchup 2025 on Windows 11 and I had no back up.
I am working on this file for months and cannot find any way to repair it. Althougt there are datas (my file is about 56 Mo) the error message “This does not appear to be a SketchUp Model” appears. When trying to open the SKB file then the error message shows “Failed to open document”.

Where were you saving the file while you were working on it?

Why is there no backup? Did you disable that feature?

Is it a cr acked version of SketchUp?

Upload the file to Drop Box and share the link so we can see if there’s anything to recover.

Hello DaveR,

Thank you for your help on this. We do not use a cracked license, we work with GRAITEC for it. As much as I know, everything is active. It seems that “Auto-save” feature closes as soon as we close said file.

You will find the files from this link :

Please let us know if everything is not okay with the link or the site it comes from.

Regards,

Cyril

The .skp file contains nothing but zeroes. this is what it looks like in a hex editor. It doesn’t even have the file header.

The last part (about 32%) of the .skp file is nothing but zeroes.

Unfortunately this means there’s nothing to recover from either file. Where was the file being saved while you were working on it? Did you experience a power failure? Maybe the computer was shut down while the file was still saving?

Is there any chance a backup copy was saved to Trimble Connect? Any possibility that a LayOut file had been started which uses this SketchUp file?
