You’re so right, endlessfix, this is a GREAT script and an even better solution than being able to write a new Tag name directly into Entity Info box. It’s a true timesaver.
Using software correctly you don’t have such problems. Be more careful.

There are many differences between platforms.
If you don’t mind me saying so, that is trite. If something makes it easy to cause an error then in my book it is not well designed.
I often design staircases. I could make them with irregular treads, uneven surfaces, etc. I don’t think I would get a lot of sympathy if someone broke their leg and I just told them they should be more careful negotiating stairs!
In this case, my early hope was dashed. The annoying problem persists - for Mac users anyway.

Why would you let someone change the text and then not accept the change. Very, very bad change. Can you make this a preference so that those of us that used the functionality can and those that don’t want it can turn it off? I bet no one turns it off.

I agree, I am incredibly annoyed by this change. Why not at least make it an option to turn off/on auto-create new tags in the preferences or model info?

It’s annoying as hell to add a tag, then assign the selection to the tag.
Please bring the old feature back.

I just upgraded from 21.0.392 to 22.0.353 and discovered this feature removal. Say it ain’t so!
With the ease and efficiency using Entity Info alone, it encourages the assignment of Tags at the time the component is created. (See below left).
With the change (see below right), now I need to jump into Tags, create a new tag, then back to Entity Info again and scroll thru a list to assign my newly created tag.
One more vote to bring back typing into Tags within Entity Info on Mac.

Aha, so I can actually downgrade to 21.0.392 to regain this feature, hopefully without having to “legacy-save” all my SU2021.1-models to previous SU-version to be able to open them.
…if only there were a possibility of downloading 21.0.392 somewhere.
Try the Dezmo Demo_Tag_by_comp extension posted earlier in this thread. May be better then going back to 21.0 .
As a new feature, to add efficiency with Tagging, how about a check mark to add a Tag of the same name in the Component Maker window at the time the component is created.
