Calculate area of a room

I am working on floor plans in Sketchup for Web. Is there an easy way to calculate the area of an irregular shaped room; for example an Oklahoma shape or an L-shape? I have tried drawing rectangles to fill in the space and adding the areas as shown in Entity Info, but my rectangles get involved with and altered by the room geometry, and I don’t add very well.

Using the tape measure and pointing at a face would work too. You don’t even have to select the face.

Select the Face of the floor by right clicking on it. Then select Entity info from the pop-up menu. In the Entity info window on the right of the SketchUp workspace, Area is one of the attributes of the selected face.
