Bug splat/ file not found error in my sketchup model

I am unable to open my sketchup file even after changing the extension name of my backup file to .skp. The file crashes with a bug splat error and a pop up shows as the file is not found of error.

Below are the links of my files:

I’m not on my machine right now but it would probably open on sketchup 2026, since it has some automatic errors correction and it can automatically delete corrupted elements that prevent a file to be opened on older versions. You can download sketchup 2026 at not extra cost, it’s included with your license, unless you’re using jack sparrow software, if that’s the case this is the wrong place to ask for help.

I’m sorry, the renovation file is completely empty, just 0000 inside

the renovation1 is 80% empty, it starts ok but then it’s dead.

do you have the backup files ? the skb files that save next to your files ? did you save them locally or on onedrive / an usb stick / somewhere external ?

I’m sorry, but the only course of action right now is to start over from the last file you have that worked.

This is the backup file link. All the files are saved locally on the internal disk.

I’m sorry, it’s the same as the renovation 1 file. it’s ok for the first 15% then it’s empty.

do you have onedrive backup and compression maybe ?
you can see this on the icons, they have a small blue mark I think. and when you go to folders like “my documents” and “desktop”, and you look at the address bar, it says something like onedrive/user/desktop instead of c:/user/desktop
(not on a PC right now, so it’s all by memory)

if so, then you’re saving locally but there is a synchronisation happening. it can (could) break the files.

I’m sorry, right now, there is nothing to save in the files. all I can provide is solutions for the future, it’s a bittersweet thing.

  • make iterations. from time to time, duplicate your file and save the copy as a hard save point you can go back to. the chances that your file + all the older saves are corrupted at the same time is lower.
  • use trimble connect. Included with your subscription is the access to trimble connect, the cloud service of sketchup. you can save there instead (or in addition to) of your machine, and it keeps track of your saves, meaning you can revert to a previous version.

 yep. nope.
