Very annoying: all DC preferences and options are set to centimeters. But in active mode DC changes cm-values to inches. Tried everything. Even re-installed Dynamic Components extention.
Also: tried to make a new DC-component in file of last week. Result: old DC-component still works ok, newly added DC-component in same file actived the bug. Attached a test file, which shows all settings are in cm’s..But when actived values change to inches: The LenY value of lower bar changed from cm to inch.. The Y-position of the right bar should be 19cm but was after being ‘inched’ it changed into 38,1 cm
It is a bug that has been there all the time since DC:s were introduced and it has never been repaired. You have to check the “Display units format” box in the Model Info>Units window for Centimeters to work.
Thanks Anssi, but done that several times aswell..
I had a similar issue couple of years ago.. I can’t find the protocol anymore that I had to go through to fix it.
It’s a setting located deep in the computers ‘root’.
Perhaps someone else recognizes this routine.
Let’s hope.
Great solution.. I will try it..Thanks pcmoor !
Still I am sure there’s a protocol that could solve it aswell.. Like I said, it solved some years ago. Meanwhile I will proceed with your method.
Because I havent been able to kill the bug.. I have come up with MY OWN SOLUTION:
As you can see in attached photo.. in the BEHAVIORS BOX I have devided all cm’s by 2.54.. which is the conversion value from cm’s to inches. The result is accurate.. and works perfect… I hope for the time being.. Because I expect SU to deliver the proper way of DC-sizing in centimeters.
Yesterday I posted the temporary SOLUTION I created for converting inches into cm’s.
Don’t hold your breath. As @Anssi indicated in his first reply, it has been this way since Dynamic Components were first introduced. It’s not likely that any change will come soon. It’s even more unlikely with the release of Live Components.
Hi Dave, Then perhaps my rather simple solution can help you aswell.. Look further down for the photo. It works great.. plus the “2.54” cm/inch-conversion will forever remain in my brain
